## Two timers, two jobs

Pomodoro is about work rhythm. You focus for a chunk of time, then take a longer break. The 20-20-20 rule is about eye rhythm. You look away briefly and often.

They are easy to confuse because both involve timers. But a 50-minute focus block can still contain two tiny eye breaks. You do not have to choose one philosophy for your whole desk.

## A normal deep work block

Say you are writing for 50 minutes. At minute 20, you look out the window for 20 seconds and keep the document open. At minute 40, you do it again. At minute 50, you stand up, get water, and stop pretending that checking messages is a break.

The short breaks protect the close-focus rhythm. The longer break protects the work rhythm.

## A simple recommendation

Use Pomodoro if you like structured work blocks. Use 20-20-20 even if you hate structured work blocks. It is small enough to live inside almost any schedule.

Twenty focuses on the second job: calm, frequent reminders that do not make the day feel like a spreadsheet. Keep the Pomodoro block if you like it, and let the eye-break timer sit inside it.
